Geisha Vs Geisha

Bean Green’s annual Geisha vs Geisha happened on Saturday the 19th of July.

The event took place at the fabulous Bear Bones Espresso, Mclachlan Street in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley. What a line up, with 14 gorgeous and delicate coffees on the table; all of the geisha varietal. It certainly was an exciting way to spend a Saturday afternoon!
There were 3 different processing techniques of the varietal  on the table, with the coffees coming from some of the world best estates such as El Injerto (Guatemala), Santa Teresa (Panama) and Herbazu (Costa Rica).  The crowd favourite was undoubtedly number 7, Panama’s Hacienda Esmeralda’s Lino. This coffee is a natural, with the careful processing adding to this Geishes fruity, delicate characteristics. With the cups nearly empty, the table cloth wet, splattered and stained it was obvious which Geisha impressed our guests the most. Even though there was one clear winner, all the Geishas were appreciated and thoroughly enjoyed by all; with the entire experience of truly fine coffee combined with warm friendly people being an unbeatable way to spend a winters afternoon. A few post-cupping cold beverages with some of Brisbane’s coffee elite was the icing on the cake. We’re already looking forward to next year’s event!
