Sweet Maria’s – Cafe Review

Most coffee roasters, when they are finding their way, would have gone online and searched a coffee origin and its tasting profile from the coffee enthusiast site “Sweet Maria’s”. I had the opportunity to call in and see Maria and Tom at their new warehouse office and showroom in the city of Oakland near San Francisco.
The new warehouse allows the team to store large amounts of bulk green bean, that then gets re-packed into small lots and sent out to home roasters all over the world. The team sources coffees from all over the world, then test roasts the beans and reviews them for their information website, so customers can get excited about their purchases. The new warehouse has a retail space and a state of the art cupping room, to make coffee sorting more efficient. Maria and Tom started Sweet Maria’s 20 years ago, and it has become a major resource portal for home roasters. The Sweet Maria’s website has a great information library of how to source, grade, roast and brew coffee.
It was really a pleasure to finally meet this dynamic coffee duo and thank them for the hard work they have contributed to the global coffee industry. This unique business has created great roasters, who were once hobbyists that pursued their passions.
