Scott Browning

Marketing Manager, MPM Marketing Services

If you were to look in nearly every commercial kitchen or Cafe in Australia and New Zealand, you would be likely to find one of the food packaging products that are designed and marketed by Scott Browning, the marketing manager for MPM Marketing Services.

You will more likely recognise the brands that he represents, Castaway, Costwise, PrimeSource, and Parego, rather than the products, as they are easily taken for granted but a necessity to anyone in the foodservice industry.

Scott’s journey began during his five years in the United States while completing university, through an athletic scholarship for baseball. This gave him the opportunity to compete, live and study throughout the USA, an experience that forged his love of food, and, upon seeing the already mature foodservice market, gave him a framework of what the Australian foodservice market could be.

His introduction to the industry was in event co-ordination and stadium management, working with Spotless Services – a fast-paced role, that set the stage for the move to MPM Marketing Services and a career in manufacturing and marketing food packaging. During his 12 years with MPM Marketing Services, Scott has helped build the brands and products that we all recognise today. Over this period, the business has grown significantly to become one of Australia and New Zealand’s largest packaging manufacturers, with warehousing facilities and factories throughout both countries.

Scott gains inspiration from the rapid changes and growth throughout the entire foodservice industry. The changes experienced over the past decade have been dramatic, and the flourishing roaster, café and QSR segment are the most inspirational. Scott responded when asked about staying motivated in a competitive industry: “It’s the passion and the pursuit of perfection that is the most inspiring aspect of the coffee industry. The people in this segment make everyone around them better, as they continue to push boundaries and innovate. You find out very quickly that you are only as good as the team and people with which you choose to surround yourself. With the pace that the industry is growing and changing, it is impossible to do everything yourself. Without a good team and a common vision to inspire them, you are nothing.”
