Golden Bean

November 14, 2013

Adam Metelmann – Barista

“When I was asked to participate as a barista for this year’s Natvia Golden Bean, the thought of being able to work with 1300 roasted coffees from around the country coupled with the industry’s best people, I pretty much couldn’t pack my bag fast enough.

I had my thoughts about what the event would be like, but what I encountered by far exceeded my expectations. Wonderfully organised, professional, exciting and fulfilling (with a little hard work thrown in too). The Engine Room was full of like minded professionals, with a wealth of knowledge and brilliant coffee minds. This is pure heaven for a barista to share extractions, shop and gear talk. All with a vibe that was purely focused on the honour of presenting only the best for the massive task at hand.

I’m sure from the photos, you’ll see why the rest of the world may just be a little jealous, as Port Macquarie is a amazingly beautiful backdrop to be showcasing Australia’s insanely talented coffee scene.

I forever feel honoured to be a part of this progressive industry, but I cannot thank the organisers enough for the opportunities that were presented to me here, as well as the life time memories and fun of such a full on week.

Just hoping they’ll ask me back next year.”
