Brisbane Shines for Café Biz 2014
It was not a hard decision to bring the Café Biz expo to Brisbane for 2014 as this vibrant city ticked all the boxes for our most successful event to date. With record numbers through the door this caffeine fuelled expo was a hive of activity.
With exhibitors from all sectors of the café industry it was the perfect event for café owners, new starters, coffee roasters and their staff to find new products and make connections for their businesses.
Exhibitors delighted in the quality of attendees to Café Biz enabling them to create awareness, build new relationships and make sales. Check out some testimonials at the bottom of the page.
In addition to the exhibition space Café Biz also played host to VIP speakers, the Lion Dairy & Drinks Latte Art Competition and some very entertaining panel discussions with some of the industry’s most successful café owners such as Luke Shilling, Tim Adams, Frankie Shi and Michael Oo.
The Lion Dairy & Drinks Latte Art Competition was won by Sengmany Sanoubane from the Espresso Room in the ACT with Matt Lakajev from Coffee Brothers on Sydney’s Northern Beaches as runner up with just 3 points the difference.
Brisbane has an amazing café scene, which is well supported by the Queensland Coffee Community, a team of volunteers who have formed a social media group to successfully put together a series of coffee events around Southern Queensland for like minded people. This group of passionate coffee people headed up by Leigh Carmichael and Stacey Benjamin were integral to the success of the Queensland Barista Championship also hosted at Café Biz. The busy schedule on stage included the QLD Barista Championships, Latte Art Championships, the Brewers Cup, Cupping Tasters and Coffee in Good Spirits. Over the last eleven years Café Biz has alternated between Sydney and Melbourne, which has been a great opportunity to spread the educational approach of this informative event. Now spreading our wings into Brisbane Queensland we thank the QLD Coffee Community, our exhibitors and our sponsors for supporting this event and we look forward to returning in 2015.

May I say, this show was outstanding. The foot traffic thru the doors on both days was constant, with people showing so much genuine interest towards our products. This in turn created opportunities to engage in a more in-depth ‘fact finding mission’. Having spoken to many who purchase thru Bidvest, it is sure to be exciting when these customers order the Chux Espresso, using the Bidvest code which I have emailed thru to them…(yep, just another great win obtaining contact details). As for the team of Café Culture, what a great group of people who are clearly passionate towards their cause – I hope I have another opportunity to work with them in the future. In closing, this recent trade show has enforced to me the “need to be seen”, appreciating the cost involved.
