Almond Breeze Barista “Breezey Masters” 2017 to kick off in Melbourne

Following the success of last years’ Almond Breeze Barista Blend “Breezey Masters” competitions, where are preparing for the 2017 competitions.

Over 200 competitors took part in 2016 culminating at the Grand Final where Will Priestly claimed the inaugural title of Grand Breezey Master. Soon Will Priestly will jet off on his trip to America to visit the SCAA show as part of his Grand Master prize.

Will also recently represented Almond Breeze in Japan and will be taking on a visit to the UK following the SCAA show. Great opportunities being provided by Blue Diamond, Almond Breeze Barista Blend.

Almond Breeze Barista Blend is Australia’s first almond milk developed in partnership with baristas, specifically for baristas. “Coffee is an important part of Australian culture and quality really matters. Recognising and understanding this culture, we knew it was critically important to develop a product that performs just like milk and complements fine coffee in terms of taste. Barista Blend was developed in close partnership with some of the country’s leading baristas, from a range of cafés. We tested and trialed the product over the course of a year, developing the perfect formulation which complements coffee beans” says Roger Ringwood, Country Manager, Aust / NZ Manager, Blue Diamond.

As much as the competitors were put to the test, so was Almond Breeze Barista Blend. The competition format was challenging with competitors required to produced 6 cups in 10 minutes with a number of latte requests. In addition to presentation scoring, competitors also needed to focus on delivering a well balanced coffee with flavour comprising 50% of the total score.

In 2017 we will be making some slight changes to the format to further challenge competitors. A cold beverage will be added to the menu with it being scored for presentation and flavour with 2 additional minutes available to produce. The only requirement for the cold beverage is that it features Almond Breeze Barista Blend. This is your opportunity to get creative. This cold beverage does not have to contain coffee either.

• Cup 5 Free Pour
• Cup 6 Cold Beverage

The 2017 program will consist of 6 state heats and a grand final. The national roadshow commences in Melbourne on the 28th March. Registrations are now open to express your interest to compete in the state heats. Entry is free and space are limited.
