A $2,000 Wish for Your Cafe or Coffee Shop

Cafe owners know all too well that running your own cafe is no piece of cake. There are a number of factors important to your survival – your location, having good staff, implementing a well thought out menu, and the quality of your food and coffee – and then there’s the never-ending task of balancing your business expenses and managing the cash flow.

Often cafes operate on slim profit margins, leaving not a lot of room for purchasing much needed equipment that would make the lives of cafe owners a little easier. Thankfully BizCover understands the lengths they need to go through in order to be on top of their game.

Starting off as a small business themselves back in 2008, the online business insurance service, set out to be the fairy godmother of cafes and other small business owners alike. They know the extra effort and expense it takes to grow a business and take it to the next level. So instead of turning a pumpkin into a carriage, they’ve been granting small business wishes around Australia since 2014 with their BizGiver Grant.

About BizGiver

To give back to the small business community who have helped fuel their business, each quarter the BizGiver program grants the wish of one small business owner by providing them with a good or a service, up to the value of $2,000, that will help them spark a new revenue stream or just to help alleviate some of the financial pressures of operating a business.

From start-ups to more established businesses, they’ve given away over $40,000 in prizes to all sorts of businesses, many of whom are in the hospitality industry. Some previous wishes include a new grill plate; a commercial display fridge; a water dispenser; washing machines and dryers; as well as iPads and new website development. They even granted a coffee machine for one lucky cafe owner. As long as the wish can be invoiced it’s eligible.

Any small business owner or employee can make a wish for their business, and they need not be a policy holder with BizCover’s insurance service.

“I had been working around our lack of on-site washing facilities by taking the laundry home and using my family machine and dryer. Having the laundry done on-site means less pressure on me after hours and allows me to focus my time on more important business procedures.”

Previous BizGiver Winner – Fudge’n’Good Coffee, Tasmania

How does it work?

To enter your cafe or coffee shop to be in the running, simply visit the BizGiver page, input your details and make your wish by telling them in 200 words or less what item or service would help take your business to the next level, and why you deserve to win.

At the end of each entry period BizCiver will select the finalists, and from there the winner will be determined by public voting via the BizCover Facebook page. You can enter as many times as you desire, providing your meet the entry criteria outlined below.

  • You must be a small business – this means 20 employees or less, even if you’re a one-man band.
  • Have a valid ABN – to validate that you are an actual business.
  • Wish for an item or service – your wish must be for a tangible product or a service, up to the value of $2,000, which will help your business. You cannot wish for cash.

Make your wish today and you could be the next BizGiver grant winner! Entries for the current round close at 5pm on Saturday 30th September.
