WTBC experience – Tania Stacey
The opportunity to participate in the Shanghai WTBC was an experience that helped to build on my knowledge of the modern tea world. It is a competition platform that suits competitors from various backgrounds to create modern beverages with tea as the hero ingredient.
I entered the competition to push myself outside the normal boundaries of tea knowledge and I was surprised to win 2017 WTBC Australian in Sydney. Arriving in Shanghai for 2018 WTBC was exciting and nerve-racking. The other competitors were very knowledgeable in best practices of tea brewing and they created outstanding delicious tea drinks. I am very proud to achieve the 4th place within a high standard of competitors.
I would encourage everyone and anyone to enter this competition. I am not a competitive person but I found this to be a fun journey that included inspiring my creativity, meeting new tea friends in China and Australia, and travelling to the home of tea. The tea community in Melbourne has been an incredible source of support and critical feedback.
Good luck to everyone that enters, you will have a good time!
