Media Release:
THE NATION’S BEST CUP OF TEA IS MADE IN BOWEN HILLS
It’s official; the best cup of tea in the country is made by Danny Andrade from DiBella Coffee in Bowen Hills, Queensland.
This year’s World Tea Brewers Championship (WTBC) saw sixteen competitors from across the nation ‘tea off’ at Fine Food Australia in Melbourne this week – the country’s biggest event for the foodservice industry – and ran for two days.
While many of us may claim that we make a great cuppa, and maybe even the best cuppa in the office, the perfect brew actually involves much more than infusing a tea bag for three minutes – in fact it doesn’t involve a tea bag at all!
With tea experts from around the country eager to be crowned best tea-maker in the land, the competition was judged by a panel of experts including last year’s winner Tania Stacy.
Winning for his blend of Mi Lan Xiang, a Wulong tea, with coconut sugar, lemon juice and egg white – Danny’s tea was to be enjoyed like sipping a cocktail.
Danny said, “I’m very excited to have won the World Tea Brewers Championship here in Australia, especially as this was the first time I entered! The competition was tough and it was great to meet the other amazing competitors from around the country.”
Taking this year’s title of the nation’s best tea maker during the intense Australian leg of the World Tea Brewers Championship (WTBC), Danny will now travel to Shanghai to compete in the international WTBC Finals.
