MORE WA Barista Championships

WACoffeeChampsPOSTERSECONDHello WA Coffee Community.

We would firstly like to thank all those who participated in any way for the WA State Competitions held in January. Hopefully we can continue to build on that for the next events to come and get those numbers up! WA still holds the title for having the most baristas to enter these comps in one year, so we do have a massive following for our speciality coffee community, and a huge amount of excellent baristi in the talent pool.

Secondly the next event is upon us soon!! We will be holding The Second Gathering at Typika Artisan roasters on the 25th March at 4pm. Lock that date away now!!!! This event will feature the 2014 WA Brewers cup and also the WA Coffee In Good Spirits Competition. You can find out more including the rules and regulations (we will be hosting the final round rules for the Coffee in Good Spirits and the Open Service for Brewers cup) at www.worldbrewerscup.org  and www.worldcoffeeingoodspirits.com

This is an exciting opportunity as if you win, it is your chance to compete with other state finalists, with the hope to become the Australian Champion!

We have decided that being a community event we should all try to give something back to another community – Coffee Kids. Coffee Kids works with organisations in coffee-farming communities throughout Latin America to create projects in the areas of education, health care, economic diversification, food security and capacity building. These efforts allow coffee farmers to reduce their dependence on the volatile coffee market and confront their communities’ most pressing needs.

Coffee in good spirits…good spirited people…it was meant to be. There will be an entry fee of $15 which cover a small amount of food and drinks and the rest going towards this wonderful charity.

Now we need others to confirm how they can help, be it competing, judging or volunteering for the night, we would appreciate your timely fashion on this one, and also to spread the word. We will hold an information evening at Typika on Wed 12th Feb at 4pm for anyone interested in competing and who have any questions about the comp, but please if you can help in any way please contact:
Rie Moustakas on 0433 374 963 or rie@mounet.com.au
Or Rachel Bray on 0408 297 767 or rachel.bray@typika.com.au

Look forward to an exciting evening with you all
