Piazza D’Oro – Barista of the Year Awards

PIAZZA D’ORO ANNOUNCES THE 10 NATIONAL FINALISTS IN THE RUNNING FOR BARISTA OF THE YEAR AWARD

Piazza D’Oro, one of Australia’s leading espresso brands, is proud to introduce the ten national finalists in the inaugural Piazza D’Oro Barista Of The Year competition.

The ten best Piazza D’Oro baristas from around the country have been selected to compete in the competition final, which will test their ability to create world-class coffee and an exceptional sensory experience.

Finalists from New South Wales include; Apryl Curtin from Bar 2101, Jan Duan from Coffee Fest and Marius Beullens from Margot Espresso. From Victoria, Wael Bou Karroum from Station Stop Café, Alex Petroulias from Urban Chill, Jesse Carrington from Skyblitz Café, Giacomo Dalla- Zuanna from Little Figs Café and Henry Elcheikh from Goldies Café have been selected. Queensland’s Alyssa Day from Kedron Wavell Services Club, and Harrison Lewis from Rydges in West Australia are also in the running to become Australia’s Piazza D’Oro Barista Of The Year.

“At Piazza D’Oro, we know that our baristas are an integral part in delivering a great coffee experience to our customers, and this is why we are dedicated to training and developing their technical knowledge, while perfecting their art. The Piazza D’Oro Barista Of The Year competition is our way of recognizing and rewarding the people who serve on the front line of and keep our satisfied customers coming back.

“We have searched the country for the very best baristas and asked our customers to participate by nominating their favourite coffee specialist via Facebook and Instagram. The ten finalists that have been selected, have all demonstrated exceptional technical, sensory and customer services kills and we are excited to put them to the test and discover our Piazza D’Oro Barista Of The Year.” said Tas Chronis, Managing Director D.E Coffee & Tea Out of Home (Australia & NewZealand).

The ten national finalists have been invited to The Barista Workshop in Sydney to compete in the Piazza D’Oro National Finals on the 26th of November. The stakes will be high as they compete under the watchful eye of Master Roaster Wayne Archer, Barista Workshop Trainer and Luke Coghlan. The winner will walk away with a bespoke Isomac Tea Espresso Machine, $2,000 cash and the title of Piazza D’Oro Barista Of The Year.
