Tuesday 8th May marked the return of one of the biggest Barista events in Australia, with 21 competitors from across Queensland fighting through 3 rounds to earn their place in the Breezey Masters Grand Final.
Now into its 3rd year, there was a fantastic turnout and some amazing latte art. The Breezey Masters is a top class latte art competition that lets baristas showcase their skills using Almond Breeze Barista Blend.
The competing baristas were required to make four different patterns and a free pour – a heart, tulip, rosetta, swan and a free pour design. The baristas were judged on the quality of their designs, with the added pressure of completing their drinks within a set time period.
We are very pleased to announce that the winner of the Queensland Heat was Sarah Jin of Extraction Artisan Coffee! Sarah scored very highly across every round, and always had a smile on her face.
Sarah will be flying down to compete in the Grand Final of the Breezey Masters in Melbourne in November for the chance to win a choice to fly to London for the Coffee Festival or to North America for the Specialty Coffee Association Expo. The winner will also win a space in Almond Breeze’s Barista Benchmark series that features on the side of the new Almond Breeze Barista Blend packaging.
Hosted at Bear Bones Specialty Coffee Roasters, upwards of 70 coffee-heads came along to cheer on their favourite competitor.
The evening had a fantastic atmosphere, with Freedom Foods and Almond Breeze on hand to support. The Almond Breeze Australia & New Zealand manager Michael McNulty was particularly impressed with those who competed. He said “The first heat of Breezey Masters was a great success. It was great to see the local scene turn up, bring their A game and have some fun. It sets a high standard for the rest of Australia, that’s for sure”
This Breezey Masters coincides with the rebranding of the iconic Barista Blend. The new Almond Breeze Barista Blend reveals the brands darker side and aims to complement Australian café aesthetics with its sleek new look. The first print of the new packs will be rolled out from August and currently features two previous Breezey Masters finalists, Joshua Rivers and Raihaan Esat.
Almond Breeze Barista Blend is the perfect tool when creating unique latte art and is highly regarded by Australian baristas due to its ability to stretch and pour.
The Breezey Masters has gone global with finalists from the UK, South Africa, Japan and New Zealand merging together in Australia during November to find the reigning world Breezey Master.
Freedom Foods is the national distributor for Almond Breeze Barista Blend and has successfully covered every state in Australia with distribution, contributing to Almond Breeze Barista Blend becoming Australia’s number one almond milk of choice.
