Cafes invited to become a Change Coffee Hot Shots and change the world
Change Coffee Day: Friday, 2 December 2016
Cafes all over Australia are invited to become Change Coffee Café Hot Shots to help change the world on Change Coffee Day: Friday 2 December.
On the day, coffee drinkers are invited to donate the price of a cup of coffee or simply their spare change at participating cafés when ordering their coffee. This spare change funds programs for vulnerable and AIDS affected children in sub-Saharan Africa – a $3.50 donation (the price of a single cup of coffee!!) can feed 15 children for a day.

In its inaugural year, Change Coffee Day raised over $8500 in 2015. So far in 2016, over 200 cafés from Australia, New Zealand, USA, Philippines, France, Spain, and South Africa are supporting the day, but more cafes are very welcome to join the cause. Becoming a Change Coffee Café is easy– there is no financial or customer service commitment. Café owners are supplied with all marketing collateral and simply have to put this up in their café in the days leading up to Friday 2 December. On the day, and over the following weekend, Customers donate spare change into provided collection cups.
Participating cafes receive:
· A Change Coffee T-shirt for their barista or customer service person
· A Change Coffee Collection Cup
· Change Coffee Hotshot poster & info poster
· Change Coffee stickers for customers
· Social Media support
“Cafes supporting Change Coffee Day are helping change children’s lives. There is a great spirit about the day and there are no onerous tasks for café operators besides encouraging spare change donations,” said Robyn Borruso, founder of Change Coffee. “It’s a great way to engage with customers on a Friday and be very visible courtesy of our bright orange posters!
“Most of the participating cafes from last year experienced increased sales on the day due to the increased footfall, as well as receiving positive feedback from their customers for being involved in a worthy, meaningful campaign.”
All donations go to not-for-profit organisation Eniwe Children’s Fund, which is on a mission to improve the lives of orphaned and underprivileged children through various nutrition, housing, and education initiatives in sub-Saharan Africa.
What spare change can achieve:
· Donating spare change equal to cost of a coffee will feed 15 children for a day
· Donating spare change equal to cost of a coffee will feed 1 child for 15 days
· 25 people donating spare change equal to cost of a coffee will feed 1 child for a whole year
