Hungry Jack’s responds to growing drive-thru market with barista coffee concept

Jack’s Café is currently being trialled at five restaurants in Canberra.

Hungry Jack’s announced the launch of their new Jack’s Cafes across Canberra, in a bid to give a range of barista-made coffees and speciality beverages through drive-thru and in restaurants.

The initial pilot will be at five restaurants in Kambah, Belconnen, Fyshwick, Gungahlin and Queanbeyan, with further roll out plans to be announced later this year.

Jack’s Café Barista Coffee blend is described as a “full-bodied cup with lively sweetness and medium acidity that comes from a combination of Arabica beans from Papua New Guinea, Costa Rica and an earthy flavoured Robusta.”

The 440-store fast food chain, which recently launched their plant-based Rebel Whopper, said crew members have received training ahead of the Jack’s Café launch, with each restaurant appointing designated baristas to manage and prepare orders.

Hungry Jack’s chief marketing officer Scott Baird said in a media release that the introduction of Jack’s Café is in response to the “growing consumer demand for barista coffee while on the go.”

“[C]ustomers love the convenience of our drive-thru and Jack’s Café will elevate our offering, with the introduction of barista coffee and speciality beverages. The Canberra trial will ensure the right foundations are in place to execute high quality barista coffee in all of our restaurants and we look forward to bringing this concept to all of our customers in the future,” he said.
