Pilgrim Coffee proved to be a powerhouse when it filled the dais at the Tasmanian Breezy Masters this week. The Hobart institution hosted the event on Tuesday and owner Will Priestley was crowned state winner in the Almond Breeze Australia latte art competition.

Priestley claimed victory from his partner Chelsea Lowik, who also owns and operates Bright Eyes Espresso Bar on Brooke St Pier, while Pilgrim’s Sam Green finished third in the competition.

The event marked Priestley’s return to competition after several years away. Not that he needed to worry; the runner-up at the SCAE World Latte Art Championship in 2010 moved with confidence on Tuesday to claim the title of Tasmanian Breezy Master. Priestley said Almond Breeze Barista Blend was “easy to work with, much more so than people might expect”.

As state winner he took home $1000 and will be heading north in October to compete in the grand final in Sydney for the title of Grand Breezy Master and an all expenses paid trip to North America.
