Alternative Meat Co and Deliveroo are dishing out a gourmet, 100% plant-based ‘Lasagne Dog’
● Renowned meat-eating vegan chef Shannon Martinez has teamed up with The Alternative Meat Co. to launch her very own gourmet snag, The Lasagne Dog
● To celebrate, Deliveroo is serving up hundreds of FREE Lasagne Dogs in Melbourne and Sydney for a limited time only
● The Lasagne Dog is 100% plant-based, made from Alternative Meat Co. sausages
The Alternative Meat Co. has launched the Lasagne Dog, giving the everyday hot dog a run for its money. Partnering with renowned meat-eating vegan chef and now gourmet snag creator, Shannon Martinez, it has taken the traditional hot dog recipe to the next level with this impressive creation.
The limited-edition Lasagne Dog will be exclusively available via Deliveroo in Sydney and Melbourne from Thursday, 31 October until Sunday, 3 November for just $12 for the ultimate guilt-free, health is wealth meal.
To give plant-based devotees a taste ahead of launch, The Alternative Meat Co and Deliveroo will be dishing out hundreds of Lasagne Dogs for FREE, on Wednesday, 30 October. Between 12pm – 2pm, the Roos will be handing out the FREE snags at lunch hotspots; Balaclava and South Yarra stations in Melbourne and Kings Cross station and Taylor Square in Sydney.
The bespoke creation is made up of a vegan hot dog bun smeared with a liberal amount of garlic butter, a tasty 100% plant-based Alternative Meat Co sausage, topped with a rich and tasty plant-based Bolognese sauce, followed by a drizzle of a mouthwatering Alternative Dairy Co vegan cheese sauce with a sprinkle of Basil.
Chef, Shannon Martinez said, “Vegan dishes are my specialty and the OG hot-dog deserved a makeover. When I create dishes, I like to think of what is going to ultimately bring joy each time someone takes a bite, whether they are vegan, meat-eaters, flexitarians or vegos. The Lasagne Dog is that dish!”.
“I absolutely love that the Alternative Meat Co sausages are locally made, I’m a huge advocate for local brands. Plus the fact they cook and taste just like meat is a meat-eating vegan chef’s dream come true,” she said.
Joe Satari from Deliveroo said “We have noticed a huge trend across our restaurants with an increased demand for meat-free and plant-based dishes but haven’t seen anything like the Lasagne Dog. We love that the Alternative Meat Co products are Australian made, packed with protein and taste just like meat if not better. A 100% meat-free, guilt-free sausage combined with Italian Bolognese and vegan cheese sauce is a winner for us”.
The Alternative Sausage is locally made, 100% plant-based and high in protein, vegan-friendly and free from preservatives, artificial colours, flavours, GMOs and palm oil. The packaging is also recyclable.
The Alternative Meat Co. sausages are also now available to purchase nationwide in the refrigerated meat section of Coles supermarkets, so next time you’re stocking up on snags for a BBQ with your mates you will be easily reminded to make the meat-free swap.
Dean Epps, General Manager of Life Health Foods Australia said, “We’re excited to be working with Shannon and Deliveroo to release yet another innovative and delicious alternative meat offering. The availability of our sausages at Coles also means our consumers can also make the Lasagne Dog at home. So head to your local Coles and ask for our Alternative Meat Co products, found in the meat aisle”.
